Study Guidelines:
We recommend 205 Learning hours of study is usually more than adequate time for learners to sufficiently study the course. This level of study should be comfortably manageable alongside full time jobs and other commitments.
Assessment
To achieve the course you will need to complete mandatory five units. Additional to the online study requirements, you will need to complete a work-based study that is observed and supporting by an evidence portfolio.
Course Content
In this unit, you will consider diverse approaches to early years pedagogy that influence holistic learning of babies and children from birth to five years of age. You will also explore statutory planning and monitoring requirements.
This unit will challenge you to gain a greater awareness of how babies and young children learn and how to apply theory to practice. You will be required to evidence how you apply new learning to your day-to-day role with children from birth to five years, and report on subsequent changes to practice in own setting through the development of a learner portfolio.
By undertaking this unit you will explore leadership, mentoring and management skills relevant to your role.
In this unit, you will consider the factors that could influence mental health and well-being in children and young people. You’ll also explore current national strategies for promoting mental health and well-being in own UK home nation.
This unit will challenge you to gain a greater awareness of how children and young people deal with these issues and how to help and support.
You’ll be required to evidence how you could apply this new learning to your day-to-day role with children and young people, and report on subsequent changes to practice in own setting through the development of a learner portfolio.
In this unit, you will look at the effective inclusion of children, young people, and/or adults.
Through examination of national requirements and guidance, you will consider the responsibilities of the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) within early years settings, to promote children’s learning and development.
By undertaking this unit, you will develop confidence and expertise to mentor other early years practitioners and work in partnership with parents/carers and other professionals, to ensure intervention remains effective for children with special educational needs and disabilities.
In this unit, you will examine statutory requirements for working in partnership with families, and learn how effective partnership working with other professionals can improve the care and development of babies and children in own setting.
Through this unit, you will explore some of the diverse needs of families, and reflect on how best to overcome barriers to partnership working with families.
In undertaking this unit, you will apply coaching, leadership and mentoring skills to educate and motivate staff to work effectively in partnership with others.
In this unit, you will be required to plan, implement and evaluate change in relation to an identified theme. This will be achieved through a small scale research project. You will be introduced to research, and the role of ethics when undertaking research.
The theme selected will allow you to reflect on practice, and use current research to produce recommendations for improvements to your own setting, implement these recommendations and summarise findings.

Entry Requirements
In order to enrol on this course you must: Be employed in early years setting at Level 3, and hold a full Level 3 early years/childcare qualification.
Why Distance Learning?
If you are currently in full time or part time employment then you may find that traditional colleges or institutes of study are not practical for you to attend while maintaining your employment and livelihood. You may also be struggling to justify the costs of relocating or traffic long distances to study at a traditional academic institution.
For these eventualities, distance learning is the only feasible option. Often, distance learning is significantly cheaper than traditional classroom learning too.

In order to enrol on this course you must be employed in an early years setting at Level 3, be 18+ year AND hold a full Level 3 early years/childcare qualification.
You will have access to your personal tutor, via email and telephone, who will mark your assignments and guide you through the course. In addition, you will be supplied with a comprehensive Study Guide which will help you through the study and assessment process. Your personal tutor will be highly experienced in their subject area and qualified to teach.
We provide all the specially written learning materials you require to study this course at home. The course fee also includes tutor support for 12 months.
No, this course is assessed by coursework alone.
No, all of the study materials are supplied within your learning pack.
During your placement, observation is required to complete your course, conducted by a qualified teacher, assessor, or potentially, a higher-level manager. You can find yourself an observer, or we can send one of our tutors to come observe you. There will be an additional cost starting from £250 per day for us to come and assess you. However, there will be a discounted rate based on total number of days you need to be observed or assessed. This can be discussed with your tutor to ensure it meets your personal requirements as a learner.
If you arrange your own observer, they will need to be suitably qualified and evidence of this will be required. If needed, your tutor can provide information, support and training for your chosen observer to fully understand the requirements of observation.
Most students finish comfortably within the course duration period given. However, if you do need more time, your personal tutor support can be extended for an additional fee.
That’s fine, this course can be studied anywhere and is completed by submitting Tutor marked assignments (TMAs).
